Thank you for posting this. I love Sabina’s voice – but I didn’t know this song. Now I do. 🙂
That´s strange, it’s one of his most famous songs! Thanks for visiting! 🙂
Not in the UK, it isn’t.
Serrat and Sabina have a whole extra layer of historical meaning for you in Spain. Here in the UK we only hear their voices occasionally and randomly. Your post reminded me of him and expanded my minimal knowledge of him. I liked his voice and I was glad to hear more of it.
I’m already surprised that they are known or listen at all in UK! :-). Sabina’s music does not have much sense to me if you don’t understand the lyrics. There is where the magic happens, I think! A pleasure having introduce you to this song, if you are seeking for a couple of recomendations of his old hits, here they come: pongamos que hablo de Madrid, así estoy yo sin ti, caballo de carton, princesa…. the list is countless! 🙂
Thank you for those. 🙂
Yes, there’s an interest in Spanish language music here. The other day the BBC devoted one of their 30 minute Soul Music radio programmes (where people talk about how important a piece of music has been in their lives) to Gracias a la Vida http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04ps556 and another time they talked about Concierto de Aranjuez http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b036k8v8
We only hear music from other countries a song at a time 🙂
funny! I posted “gracias a la vida” one month ago… it is indeed a very important song, at least for me, it helps you a lot to rationalize the relative importance of the little problems we have and how lucky we actually are… very nice program, thanks for sharing it!
El Concierto de Aranjuez is an amazing piece, incredibly beautiful. Here an adaptation which I love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKa7MN8qrTE.
This program chooses oldies but goodies…
