Quarantine has som pros and some cons…
Like everything in life, I know…
The drawbacks tend to be emphasized very much these days so… I will go to the possitive site of it.
First, the person who is writting this is suddently not too lazy to write in english. Odd, isn’t it?…. is that possitive?… well, it depends on the language the reader masters… but that is not very much up to the writer… so reader, if you cannot speak english, learn it, you have time now!
Second, the person who is writting this blog has read a book…. Unbelievable… I know… it took her two weeks to finish it. It is probably a personal record in the last 10 years…
Third, the person who is writting this blog is going to talk about this book… lucky you who are still reading this.
The book is called “Tiempos recios” (“Fierce times” in english) and it is the last novel written by Mario Vargas Llosa. And… if you do not know who Vargas Llosa is, please use google… since he is probably one of the most known (if not the most) writer in spanish who is still alive. Vargas Llosa is easy to read and interesting… The book is a small compendium of another era. It is covering what happened in Guatemala in the middle of the 20th century with different governments, militar coups and the influence of the USA in everything. He claims it is a novel with reality touches, therefore many of the characters were actually real people. It is uplifting in this times when we are all complaining about having to stay indoors in beautiful houses with plenty of food and drinks. It gives you a different perspective about life in another time and another place where things were tougher. Not that I like the Covid-19 killing people, but somehow I find it less disturbing than wars and militar coups.
